The Byrds began when Gene Clark and Jim McGuinn decided to sing together at the Troubadour club in Hollywood in 1964, but Clark quit the group in early 1966. He only recorded two albums with the band, but wrote and sang lead on nine of the tracks, as well as the single “She Don’t Care About Time.” When you put all his songs together it practically makes a 1965 Gene Clark solo album — and at the same time makes you wish he stayed with the band longer!
