We’ll be on the Sunset Strip right down the street from the Whisky A Go Go.
A big chunk of the book takes place in L.A. so let me know if there’s any story in particular you’d like to hear. Some of the events that took place in Hollywood include:
The Byrds kicked off the folk rock explosion at Ciro’s (now The Comedy Store) and their audience started the free-form hippie dance style. Dylan got on stage with them on March 26. (As pictured on the home page.)
The Stones recorded “Satisfaction” …
The Beatles’ visited with the Byrds and Elvis …
Brian Wilson fought to steer the Beach Boys toward ambitious, baroque pop …
Love formed in the parking lot of Ben Frank’s (now Mel’s Diner) …
Also in town were Frank Sinatra, the Mamas and the Papas, Sonny and Cher, and Barry McGuire.
The event will probably last 30-45 minutes, then we can go across the street and grab a drink.
Hope to see you there!
