February: The Yardbirds with Eric Clapton release “For Your Love”

In April guitarist Clapton will leave the band because he thinks the harpsichord-laden hit is too pop. The band tries to recruit session guitar wunderkind Jimmy Page to replace him. Page declines and suggests Jeff Beck, instead.
